Supporting the circular economy

Synthetic materials like polyester, nylon, and polypropylene make up more than 90% of all the fabrics used in everyday life. They’re not recyclable, and textile waste is contributing to a growing environmental crisis.

In the circular economy, goods are sustainably produced then reused or repurposed as many times as possible. Our linens can be disposed of in several environmentally friendly ways. They’re biodegradable under suitable conditions, so they can be diverted from landfills into industrial composting or organics recycling. Or, they can be processed by anaerobic digesters or used for feedstock recycling.

Save energy. Reduce emissions.

Producing PLA-based fabrics uses 50% less energy than conventional polyester, the most common synthetic fiber in the garment industry.

Moreover, because of their quick-dry properties, our linens can be laundered and dried using up to 70% less energy. Every time a Whisp sheet is washed and dried, it reduces the emission of CO2 equivalents by about 0.4 kg (compared to traditional poly/cotton linens). While that may not sound like much, it means our linens could reduce more than one million tons of CO2 emissions in the United States households alone per year.
